ABOUT

Missing Beacons was a series of daily photographs created at Can Serrat Artist Residency in El Bruc outside of Barcelona, at the foot of the mysterious and unique mountain formation called Montserrat. It is steeped in history and lore, from hiding the riches and precious art at the top during the raids of Napolean, " la Moreneta," the legendary black Madonna goddess cult of the to close encounters and religious ecstatic experiences from hikers and visitors, and the 80 active monks who live at the top of the mountain full time to this day. Missing Beacons tells of a crash around the mountain and attempts to correspond or signal amidst technology failing. Spirits creep into frame as the sun sets over the mountain and personal histories fade with the light. The mountain sustains to be the principal character.

The series was continued in the Berkshires in New England in the fall of 2023 and in Arizona in winter of 2024.
